PET CT for Advanced Cancer Care in Nepal

June 8, 2016: Sooriya diagnostic has inaugurated Positron Emission Tomography–Computed Tomography (PET CT) in Lazimpat, Kathmandu on June 7. GE’s Discovery IQ PET CT is the first PET CT service in Nepal.

IQ PET CT offers the latest technology in imaging and screening that is critical for early diagnosis, staging and post treatment monitoring of cancer. The test will cost 70,000/- per person.

Approximately 30000 new cancer cases are diagnosed and about 20000 people die of cancer every year in Nepal. Lung, breast, cervix and abdomen cancers are the most common cancers seen in Nepal primarily because of smoking, drinking, obesity, infection, exposure to radiation and increased use of insecticides and pesticides.
