Kathmandu – Rescue teams have safely evacuated 117 tourists stranded by flooding in the Bhotekoshi River area, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
The rescued group includes 85 Indian nationals, 16 Chinese nationals, nine South Koreans, two Americans and two Italians. The nationalities of three others have yet to be confirmed.
Despite the successful rescue, more than 600 tourists are reportedly still out of contact following the flood. Many of them are believed to have been travelling along the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage route, according to trekking and tour operators.
Authorities, security agencies and tourism organisations are continuing search, rescue and coordination efforts to locate stranded travellers and restore contact with those still unreachable.
