18 Lakh contributors deposited NPR 68.68 Billion in Social Security Fund (SSF) over six years
The government’s Contribution-Based Social Security Fund (SSF), launched on December 11, 2018, has registered nearly 20,000 employers and about 18 lakh workers over six years. Implemented in July 2019, the scheme aims to provide financial security through benefits like medical care, accident protection, and old-age pensions.
Under the program, employers contribute 20% of their workers’ salaries, while employees add 11%, making a total of 31% deposited monthly into the Social Security Fund (SSF). To date, the fund has collected NPR 68.68 billion and disbursed NPR 11.62 billion in claims.
The scheme covers workers from various sectors, including 5.43 lakh in the formal sector, 12.53 lakh in foreign employment, 307 in the informal sector, and 227 self-employed individuals. It was introduced to safeguard workers’ financial stability and ensure social protection.
