27th Flora Expo 2082 to be held in Brikutimandap
Kathmandu – The 27th Flora Expo 2082 is to be organized at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, from Chaitra 5 to 8, under the coordination of the Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN).
The expo is to be held with the theme “Floriculture for a Clean Environment, Employment, and Economic Prosperity.” Through the event, the development, expansion, and promotion of Nepal’s floriculture industry are to be encouraged.
According to the Floriculture Association Nepal, a total of 83 stalls are to be set up this year. These are to include 65 commercial stalls and 11 official stalls, as well as competition-based and food stalls. The exhibition, which has been held continuously for nearly three decades, has been regarded as one of Nepal’s major platforms for the promotion of flowers, ornamental plants, and related agricultural products.
A wide range of items is to be displayed and offered for sale during the expo. These include seasonal flowers, ornamental plants, cut flowers, dried flowers, orchids, compost manure, seeds, and materials related to modern farming technology. Through such displays, both commercial opportunities and public awareness regarding floriculture are expected to be increased.
It has been stated by the Floriculture Association Nepal that the floriculture business has already been expanded to 52 districts across the country. In this sector, an investment of more than Rs 8.83 billion has been made. The annual transaction of the industry was recorded at Rs 3.68 billion in the fiscal year 2080/81. For the current fiscal year 2081/82, however, the कारोबार is estimated to decline slightly to around Rs 3.37 billion.
The expo is also being viewed as an important initiative for import substitution and export promotion in the floriculture sector. By encouraging domestic production and marketing, the event is expected to support local entrepreneurs, create employment opportunities, and contribute to economic activity.
This year’s expo is expected to be visited by around 60,000 people, while business transactions worth more than Rs 12 million are projected to be made during the four-day event.
In addition, awards are to be presented for categories such as best stall, best nursery, and various flower competitions, with the aim of encouraging quality production and innovation in the sector.
As part of social responsibility activities, a blood donation program is also to be organized at the expo venue on Chaitra 6, as informed by Expo Coordinator Mr. Ram Bahadur Tamang.
