5K freedom run to energize Jawalakhel for IWD 2026

Kathmandu – A 5K Fun Run/Walk is set to be organized in Jawalakhel to mark International Women’s Day 2026, with the initiative being led by Higher Ground Nepal. The event will take place on March 21, 2026, at Jawalakhel Football Ground, with the race scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM.

The program is being promoted under the themes #RunForFreedom, #GiveToGain, and #IWD2026, with the objective of encouraging community participation, gender equality, and social empowerment. It has been announced that people of all genders and age groups will be welcomed to take part in the event.

In addition to the 5K run/walk, a series of engaging activities are expected to be conducted at the venue. These include Zumba sessions, self-defense demonstrations, a kids’ fair, food stalls, and a “Made in Nepal” bazaar featuring women entrepreneurs. The event is aimed at creating a festive and inclusive environment while promoting women-led initiatives and local enterprises.

Organizers have stated that the run is not only a fitness activity but also a platform to inspire positive change and collective action in line with the spirit of International Women’s Day.
