Dragon Boat Race Festival begins at Fewa Lake

The second edition of the Nepal-China Friendly Dragon Boat Race Festival kicked off today at Fewa Lake. The two-day event was inaugurated by Honorable Teju Lal Chaudhary, Minister of Youth and Sports, and H.E. Mr. Chen Song, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, in the presence of prominent dignitaries.

Jointly organized by the Gandaki Provincial Government, Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and the Nepal Tourism Board, the festival aims to promote tourism in Nepal. Supporting organizations include the Nepal Dragon Boat Association, Pokhara Tourism Council, and Pokhara Overseas Chinese Association.

Today’s races featured 20 teams competing in 200m and 500m categories, including 11 teams from Nepal, 8 from China, and 1 from Singapore. Eight winning teams from each category advanced to tomorrow’s semi-finals.

Dragon Boat Race

The winners will be awarded $5,000, with runners-up and third-place finishers receiving $2,000 and $1,200, respectively. All other participating teams will receive $500 as a token of appreciation.
