Renowned wildlife photographer Chungba Sherpa passed away at 64
Renowned wildlife photographer Chungba Sherpa passed away on Sunday at 12:15 AM while undergoing treatment at Grande International Hospital. The 64-year-old, a permanent resident of Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality-1, Lukla, was receiving treatment for liver-related issues for a week and had been on a ventilator. Funuru Sherpa, Ward Chairperson of Khumbu Pasanglhamu-1 confirmed his death.
Apart from his notable contribution to wildlife photography, Sherpa was actively involved in politics as the President of the Nepali Congress Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality. He also served as the former chairperson of the Chaurikharka Village Development Committee and was engaged in the tourism sector.
In recent years, Sherpa has gained prominence for his dedication to wildlife photography and was associated with various national and international photography organizations.
