Kathmandu, Feb 3 – Chinese tourists ranked second in Nepal’s tourist arrivals for January 2025, with 8,191 visitors, following India. Nepal welcomed a total of 79,991 international tourists, marking a 1% increase from January 2024 and a 98% recovery compared to 2019 levels.
China’s strong presence in Nepal’s tourism sector is expected to grow further, especially with the country’s official announcement of Visit Nepal 2025. This initiative could significantly boost Chinese arrivals in the coming months, reinforcing Nepal’s appeal as a travel destination.

India remained Nepal’s largest source market, with 20,485 arrivals, while the United States (8,063), Bangladesh (5,406), and Australia (4,301) rounded out the top five. Departures for January stood at 80,059, reflecting a steady tourism flow.
