China Hands Over ‘Jiri Secondary School’ to Nepal, Strengthening Educational Ties
Kathmandu – The Chinese Embassy in Nepal officially handed over the newly constructed Jiri Secondary School to the Government of Nepal today, marking a significant milestone in China-Nepal educational cooperation. The school is part of a broader initiative under China’s “ten gift schools” package, designed to provide a modern and conducive learning environment for Nepal’s young generation.
The handover ceremony was attended by officials from both countries, local community representatives, parents, and students. Speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador Chen Song reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s education sector. He stated, “We are proud to provide a modern and safe learning environment for the youth of Nepal. China stands ready to support Nepal throughout its development journey.”
Jiri Secondary School has been constructed with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance the learning experience. The school features advanced classrooms equipped with modern teaching aids, a fully functional science laboratory, a well-stocked library, and a spacious sports ground to promote both academic and extracurricular development. The infrastructure is designed not only to meet international standards but also to address the educational needs of the local community.
The school will be managed in close coordination with local authorities, parents, and students, ensuring that it serves as a community-centered institution. This approach aims to foster active participation in school governance and to create an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and physically.
The handover of Jiri Secondary School reflects the strong bilateral ties between Nepal and China, particularly in the field of education. It highlights China’s ongoing efforts to contribute to Nepal’s human resource development and to provide opportunities for the younger generation to receive quality education.
As one of the ten schools gifted by China, Jiri Secondary School is expected to become a model institution in the region, promoting modern teaching practices, scientific learning, and holistic student development. The initiative underscores the shared commitment of both countries to nurturing the future leaders of Nepal.
