IHG Hotels & Resorts Signs First Holiday Inn Hotel in Nepal’s Sudurpashchim Province
Kathmandu – IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, has signed a management agreement with Club Chaulani Ltd. to develop Holiday Inn Dhangadhi, a 115-key hotel in Dhangadhi, Nepal. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2028, the project marks IHG’s entry into Sudurpashchim Province and reflects its continued expansion into high-potential and underserved markets across South Asia.
Strengthening IHG’s Presence in Emerging Markets
The signing underscores IHG’s strategy to grow its footprint in emerging destinations with strong economic and travel fundamentals. With more than 1,200 hotels open worldwide, the Holiday Inn brand is globally recognized for its warm service, dependable quality, and guest-focused approach. Holiday Inn Dhangadhi is expected to uphold this legacy, offering reliable comfort and a contemporary hospitality experience tailored to both business and leisure travelers.
Strategic Location in the Heart of Dhangadhi
Holiday Inn Dhangadhi will be located in the city center as part of a mixed-use development, approximately 8.5 kilometers from Dhangadhi Airport. Its proximity to the India–Nepal border positions the hotel to serve business travelers, government officials, and transit guests, while also appealing to leisure visitors exploring key regional attractions such as Shuklaphanta National Park, Ghodaghodi Lake, and Shivpuri Temple. The location is expected to drive demand from both domestic and cross-border markets.
Modern Facilities and Guest Amenities
The hotel will feature 115 well-appointed guest rooms and a range of amenities designed to meet international brand standards. Facilities will include four food and beverage outlets, comprising an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, and a pool bar. For meetings and social events, the property will offer flexible function spaces and a ballroom. Additional amenities such as a fully equipped fitness center and a swimming pool will complete the guest experience.
Leadership Perspectives on the Signing
Commenting on the agreement, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said that Dhangadhi represents an emerging hospitality market supported by improving infrastructure, cross-border trade, and growing domestic travel. He noted that the new Holiday Inn will cater to rising demand from both business and leisure segments, while delivering strong returns for the development partner.
Dr. Rajendra KC, Chairman of Club Chaulani Ltd., expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that Dhangadhi’s growth as a commercial and tourism gateway in western Nepal presents a clear opportunity for high-quality branded hospitality. He added that the collaboration with IHG will bring global expertise and trusted brand standards to the city.
A Milestone for Branded Hospitality in Western Nepal
The signing of Holiday Inn Dhangadhi marks a significant milestone in IHG’s South Asia expansion journey. The hotel is expected to play a key role in shaping the branded hospitality landscape of Sudurpashchim Province while supporting the region’s increasing business and tourism activity.
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India and has a strong development pipeline of 80 additional hotels expected to open over the next three to five years, further reinforcing its long-term commitment to the South Asian market.
