World’s Largest Brick Unveiled at Ghar Nirman Fest in Kathmandu
Kathmandu — One of the major attractions of the ongoing Ghar Nirman Fest (House Construction Fest) is the display of the world’s largest brick, specially constructed with the aim of being registered in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Previously, the largest brick on record was built in Texas, USA, on July 4, 2007, measuring 2.94 meters (9 feet 8 inches) in length and 0.99 meters (3 feet 3 inches) in both height and width. The brick prepared for Ghar Nirman Fest has been designed to surpass this existing record, setting a new global benchmark.
The four-day exhibition will be held till Poush 15 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, and is expected to attract more than 40,000 visitors. The world’s largest brick carries several distinctive features:
Nepali Brick, Nepali Skill, Nepali Vision
The record-breaking brick showcased at the festival has been produced entirely using Nepali raw materials, Nepali craftsmanship, and indigenous technology and thinking. It reflects Nepal’s long-standing brick-making tradition, construction techniques, and skilled labor force. Built without reliance on foreign technology, the project symbolizes self-reliance, originality, and the strength of local expertise in Nepal’s construction sector.
Showcasing Nepal to the World
This initiative provides Nepal with a global platform to present its construction skills and innovative capacity. The effort to secure a Guinness World Record will help enhance Nepal’s international identity, attracting global audiences, investors, and tourists. It sends a strong message that Nepal is capable of achieving world-class accomplishments beyond its natural beauty.
A Unique and Memorable Identity
The world’s largest brick offers Nepal a distinctive and lasting identity. More than a competition of size, it represents Nepali hard work, creativity, and confidence. Such an achievement strengthens national pride and reinforces the image of Nepal as not only a country of scenic landscapes but also a nation rich in skill, craftsmanship, and innovation.
Public Viewing of a Historic Record
The brick will be kept on public display throughout the Ghar Nirman Fest. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe the historic brick up close, understand its structure, dimensions, and features, and witness a landmark achievement in the making. Photo opportunities will also be provided, allowing visitors to capture and preserve memories of this significant moment.
Held under the slogan “Whatever we build, we build in Nepal”, the four-day festival is expected to generate over NPR 2 billion in economic transactions. As Nepal’s largest construction-focused exhibition, the fest will showcase every stage of construction, from planning to project completion.
Visitors will be able to consult experts on home construction queries, material selection, design, cost, quality, and modern construction technologies. Participating brands are also preparing to introduce special customer-focused offers during the exhibition.
The festival aims to elevate Nepal’s construction industry through the adoption of modern technologies. Although construction and commercial activities in Nepal are expanding, many brands continue to face challenges in effective branding, customer engagement, and professional product presentation. The Ghar Nirman Fest has been organized specifically to address these gaps and support the industry’s advancement.
