Ncell has completed a major expansion and upgrade of its 4G network, bringing 250 new towers online and enhancing the capacity of 2,200 existing sites nationwide. The development promises improved voice quality and high-speed data services for customers across all seven provinces.
Expanding Connectivity Across Provinces
The expansion targeted both local levels and micro-markets, with a strong focus on Madhesh, Lumbini, Koshi, and Bagmati Provinces. Key installations include:
- Karnali Province: Sabhapokhari (Dailekh), Purtimkada (Rukum West), Bagchaur (Salyan)
- Sudurpashchim Province: Ladagada (Doti), Banjariya (Kailali), Sarswati Tole (Kanchanpur)
- Madhesh Province: Hanuman Nagar (Siraha), Bhimpur (Saptari), Musaharniya (Dhanusha)
Of the total 250 towers, 197 were newly installed in the last two and a half months, while 53 sites were upgraded using available stock and spare equipment. The network expansion accelerated after the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) resumed facilitation in May 2025.
Enhanced User Experience
Local residents have already noticed the difference. Anisa Mandal, a BBA student from Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, said, “Now the network works very well even inside my house. I need the mobile and internet for my studies, checking college notices, exchanging notes, and learning from YouTube or ChatGPT. I also stay connected with my brothers abroad.”
Statement from Ncell
Upanga Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer of Ncell, emphasized the significance of the expansion: “The addition of new towers and nationwide upgrades ensures wider 4G access, supporting communications, businesses, education, and family connections. High-speed data and quality service are about trust, opportunity, and access to the digital world.”
