17th National Children’s Theater Festival to begin in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The 17th National Children’s Drama Festival 2082 is set to begin in Kathmandu from Magh 26, with performances running until Falgun 2. The festival will be hosted at the Russian House (Rusi Sadan), Kamalpokhari.
Festival Director Navaraj Budhathoki said 17 plays have been selected from 41 scripts submitted for the event. The festival is being jointly organized by Shelly Theatre, Ojas Theatre, and the Russian House (Rusi Sadan).
Organizers said the festival aims to promote children’s creativity and theatrical expression, build confidence and communication skills through live stage experience, and provide a national platform for school teams and young performers to showcase their talent and learn through drama.
The selected plays include Hami Ekai Haun (Shree Mahendra Adarsha Secondary School, Lalitpur), Yashasvi Bhavah (Medhashree School, Kathmandu), Ke Yo Maya Ho? (Hami Dajubhai Sanstha, Lalitpur), Aba Uthnu Chha (International School, Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu), Sapanako Pul (Kavre English Secondary School, Panauti, Kavre), Sunko Jutta (Spring Hill English Boarding School, Kavre), and Aamako Aasha (Pragati Prabhat Academy, Kavre).
Other selected productions are Fateko Goji (Vidya Sagar English Boarding School, Kavre), Ragatle Lekhiyeko Sapana (Gyan Jyoti Education Foundation, Dang), Seto Jutta (Mrigashira World School, Kathmandu), Parvati (Merry Gold School, Bhaktapur), and Phoolko Thunga (Holy Angels Public School, Kathmandu).
Also scheduled for staging are Rato Pool (RIMS School, Kathmandu), Raat Chinya Bhanu (Red Star Secondary School, Morang), Kamila ra Phatyangro (Makalu Morang School, Morang), Shravankumarko Katha (Mount Herman Children’s School, Morang), Lukkeko Katha (Made School, Kathmandu), and Hajurba! Katha Sunaunus Na! (Gaindakot English School, Gandaki).
