Election Commission Nepal signs MoU with TikTok

Kathmandu – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Election Commission, Nepal and TikTok to support election integrity and promote a clean, trustworthy information environment ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, 2082.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the Election Commission by Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, while TikTok was represented by Firdous Al Mattakin.

According to the Election Commission, cooperation is to be strengthened to help reduce the spread of misinformation and disinformation, encourage responsible content practices, and support voter awareness during the election period.

The signing ceremony was attended by Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, Election Commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shamsher J.B. Rana, and Election Commission Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, along with other officials.
