Senior journalist Kishor Shrestha, Editor-in-Chief of Jana Aastha Weekly, has been awarded the Devendra Gautam Journalism Award 2082 by the Current Media and Research Center. He was honored for his fearless reporting and continued contribution to public-interest journalism by raising questions against distortions and anomalies. The award carries a cash prize of NPR 100,000.The honor was presented on 13th February 2026, Friday, by Pradipa Gautam on the 80th birth anniversary of late journalist Devendra Gautam. Speaking after receiving the award, Shrestha recalled Gautam’s contributions to Nepali journalism and said that his own career was shaped by Gautam’s journalistic approach, noting that compromises were avoided throughout his work.On the same occasion, Hari Thapa Magar, a technician who has served Current Publication for more than 35 years, was honored with the Devendra Gautam Journalism Honor 2082. Zhang Chenyi, a senior journalist at China News Service, was also conferred the honor for his media role in strengthening Nepal–China relations. Both honors carried NPR 50,000 each.
