Kathmandu Metropolitan City to Hold Dialogue Program on Women’s Leadership Journeys
Kathmandu – Kathmandu Metropolitan City will organize an interactive dialogue program featuring the leadership journeys of women leaders from different fields on the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day.
Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol said the program has been designed to inspire women through stories of courage, struggle, and leadership. She said such experiences can help women understand how to find opportunities, overcome challenges, and strengthen their leadership and personality development.
At a press meet held at Kathmandu Plaza, spokesperson Nabin Manandhar said the program, titled “Power in Action: Her Time Is Now,” will bring together women leaders from different sectors to share their learning, experiences, and leadership paths. Topics will include administration, law, entrepreneurship, innovation, women’s rights, gender-responsive cities, reduction of gender-based violence, economic empowerment, information technology, and social equality.
According to Manandhar, the program has been designed so that the lived experiences of one woman can become a source of learning and encouragement for another.
The event will also include information on women-focused services and programs run by the metropolitan city, including judicial facilitators, women’s networks, mediation initiatives, and the “One Ward: One Model Enterprise Program.” A live art exhibition representing women entrepreneurs will also be presented.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City expects the dialogue to support discussions on building a violence-free society, improving gender-friendly urban infrastructure, increasing access to justice, and reducing discrimination and abuse faced in leadership due to gender or sexual identity.
The metropolis has also implemented six local laws and various institutional mechanisms, including the Judicial Committee, Social Committee, Ward Women’s Networks, Mediation Rooms, and free legal aid services, to support gender equality, local dispute resolution, and women’s rights.
This year, the 116th International Women’s Day will be observed on Falgun 24 with the international theme “Rights, Justice, Action: For All Women and Girls” and the national theme “Opportunities with Rights, Justice, and Action for All Women and Girls.”
