Tourist police Nepal empowered with new motorcycles for mobility
Kathmandu – In a strategic move to enhance the capabilities of the Tourist Police, the Nepal Tourism Board has officially handed over 14 motorcycles to aid in rapid rescue operations and improve mobility. The event took place on Thursday at the Nepal Tourism Board, where CEO Deepak Raj Joshi presented the keys to the motorcycles to the Director-General of the Department of Tourism, Ram Krishna Lamichhane.
The ceremony was attended by Mukunda Prasad Niraula, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nepal Tourism Board. In his address, Secretary Niraula underscored the critical importance of tourist safety as a fundamental pillar of tourism development, stating, “Tourist safety is essential to building a trustworthy destination. These motorcycles will significantly enhance the tourist police’s reach and response capabilities.”
CEO Joshi reaffirmed the board’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Nepal’s tourism infrastructure and services. “Empowering the Tourist Police is integral to reinforcing the broader tourism system. These motorcycles will ensure more efficient service delivery in both remote and high-traffic tourist destinations,” he added.
Director-General Lamichhane expressed appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing that the motorcycles will enhance the Tourist Police’s ability to handle emergency responses and crisis management. “This will improve tourists’ confidence in the safety and reliability of Nepal as a travel destination,” he remarked.
The ceremony was also attended by the Vice-Chairman of the Board, Ram Prasad Sapkota; Board members Narendra Dev Bhatt and Rajendra Lama; and the Chief of Tourist Police, DSP Krishna Raj Ojha.
The Tourist Police, tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of tourists, providing assistance, and conducting rescue operations, is expected to see significant improvements in service efficiency with the introduction of the new motorcycles.
