Arjun Narsingh KC took momentous oath as senior-most member of the HoR
Kathmandu – President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Arjun Narsingh KC, the senior-most member of the newly elected House of Representatives (HoR), in a formal ceremony held at the President’s Office, Shitalniwas, at 11:15 AM.
Mr. KC, aged 78, was elected under the proportional representation category from the Nepali Congress during the March 5 elections. Following his swearing-in, Mr. KC will preside over the oath-taking of the remaining 274 HoR members the following day.
The 275-member HoR, which serves as the lower house of Nepal’s federal parliament, includes 165 members elected directly and 110 elected through proportional representation.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), founded just four years ago, emerged as the largest party in the HoR, securing 182 seats. The Nepali Congress (NC) holds 38 seats, while the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN UML) has 25 seats.
