IME Group nears completion of Jalapadevi cable car project
Kailali- The IME Group has announced that the Jalapadevi Cable Car project, currently under construction in Chisapani, Kailali, is expected to come into operation within the next two months.The company stated that construction work is in its final stage and expressed confidence that the project will be completed within the scheduled timeline.
Chairman of Jalapadevi Cable Car Pvt. Ltd. and former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, said that Nepal’s private sector has consistently demonstrated its ability to complete major infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and maintaining quality standards.“We have shown that projects led by the private sector can be completed on time, within budget, and with quality assurance,” Dhakal said. “We started construction of the Jalapadevi Cable Car about 11 months ago, and we are now preparing to bring it into operation as planned.”
The IME Group is constructing a 3.1-kilometer cable car line connecting Chisapani in Lamki Chuha Municipality–3 to Rajkanda in Mohanyal Rural Municipality–7.The project, with a total investment of around NPR 5 billion, will include a hotel, casino, and banquet hall at the bottom station. The top station will feature a resort, temple, sky walk, walking trails, restaurants, and a children’s park, along with other tourism infrastructure.Dhakal emphasized that Nepal cannot achieve meaningful economic transformation without expanding investment in tourism infrastructure. He added that tourism has the potential to significantly boost economic growth, cultural development, and social transformation.
He further noted that expanding tourism infrastructure would help extend tourists’ stays, increase foreign currency earnings, create employment opportunities, and boost government revenue.Highlighting his long-term vision of developing a cable car tourism circuit, Dhakal said the Jalapadevi Cable Car is an important step toward that goal. He also acknowledged support from local communities, political parties, and government bodies as a key factor in the project’s progress.Located near the Karnali Chisapani Bridge an important tourist hub of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces the project is just a two-hour drive from the Indian border. The company believes the cable car will become a major attraction for Indian tourists visiting the region.
