A meaningful start to Cannes for Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Kathmandu – Acting Mayor Ms. Sunita Dangol was received this evening by Mr. David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, at the City Hall, ahead of the red carpet ceremony at the 79th Festival de Cannes.
The bilateral reception, held at the Hôtel de Ville at 1 Place Bernard Cornut-Gentille, marked a significant moment between two cities that share UNESCO’s recognition as Creative Cities of Film. For Kathmandu, the occasion was an opportunity to be seen and engaged with as a city of cinema in its own right, alongside long-established centres of the global film community.
Ms. Dangol is pictured with Mr. David Lisnard (left) and Mr. Said Afroukh (right), Mayor of Ouarzazate, whose city is internationally recognised as one of the great centres of film production.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City extends its sincere appreciation to Mayor Lisnard and the City of Cannes for the warmth and substance of these engagements, and looks forward to continuing the conversations begun here.
