Sri Lanka offers free tourist visa for Nepali travelers
Kathmandu – Sri Lanka has introduced a free Tourist Visa, known as Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), for Nepali nationals travelling to the island nation for tourism purposes. According to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu, Nepal is among 40 countries whose citizens are now eligible for the free ETA facility.
Nepali travelers can receive a 30-day double-entry tourist visa free of charge, effective from May 25, 2026. This means visitors can enter Sri Lanka twice within the visa period, making it easier for tourists planning short holidays, family trips, religious visits, or regional travel.
The Embassy has advised travelers to obtain the ETA before arriving in Sri Lanka through the official website or by contacting the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu. The move is expected to encourage more Nepali tourists to visit Sri Lanka and strengthen tourism ties between the two countries.
