CAN Federation Acting President Unveils Five-Point Commitment to Make Nepal a Global Digital Powerhouse
Kathmandu: Chiranjibi Adhikari has officially assumed the role of Acting President of the Computer Association of Nepal Federation (CAN Federation), Nepal’s apex ICT body, and unveiled a five-point commitment aimed at transforming Nepal into a “Global Digital Powerhouse.” Expressing his gratitude and sense of responsibility, Adhikari said his leadership will focus on strengthening Nepal’s digital ecosystem, fostering innovation, and creating an enabling environment for the growth of the country’s technology industry.
As part of its key priorities, CAN Federation will advocate for the formal recognition of the IT sector as an industry, the introduction of a robust AI governance framework, and policies that prioritize Nepali-developed software and digital solutions in both government and private sectors. The federation will also work to strengthen Nepal’s startup ecosystem by improving access to funding and creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs to scale their innovations.
In addition, CAN Federation has called for the government to act as a buyer of technology solutions rather than competing with the private sector by developing software itself. The federation will also push for a unified IT Umbrella Act, easier international digital payment mechanisms, and tax incentives for the ICT sector. “Our journey begins today. Let us join hands and work together to transform Nepal into a global digital powerhouse,” Adhikari said.
