Nepal to Temporarily Suspend Passport Services for System Upgrade
Kathmandu-Nepal’s passport services will be temporarily suspended for several days starting Asar 24 (early July) as the Department of Passports transitions to a new digital system.
The Department of Passports, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that passport services provided by District and Area Administration Offices as well as Nepali diplomatic missions abroad will remain unavailable from Asar 24 to Asar 26 (three days) due to the system migration.
Meanwhile, passport services offered directly by the Department of Passports will be suspended on Asar 25 and Asar 26 (two days).The department stated that the new passport system will become fully operational from Asar 29, when regular passport services will resume under the upgraded platform.
