NSJF Pulsar Sports Award 2082 Scheduled for September 3

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) has announced that the 23rd edition of the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award 2082 will be held on September 3 (Bhadra 18) at The Blue Pavilion, Nepal Police Club in Kathmandu.

The announcement was made during a press event on Wednesday, where NSJF also renewed its partnership with Golchha Group, which continues as the title sponsor of the prestigious annual sports awards for the 19th consecutive year. The sponsorship renewal is part of a five-year agreement signed last year and is currently in its second year.

The agreement was signed by NSJF President Niranjan Adhikari and Golchha Group Director Abhimanyu Golchha. Speaking at the event, Golchha expressed pride in the long-standing collaboration, saying the company remains committed to supporting the development of Nepali sports.

“We are proud to have partnered with NSJF for 19 consecutive years. Our relationship has grown beyond sponsorship, and we wish the forum continued success,” Golchha said.

NSJF President Adhikari thanked Golchha Group for its continued support, stating that the partnership has played a key role in making the awards more organized and sustainable over the years.

NSJF General Secretary Anjan Khadka announced that awards will be presented in nine categories this year: Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, People’s Choice Award, Para Athlete Honor, Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Asian Sports Journalist Award.

Nominees for the Male, Female, Youth, Coach, and People’s Choice categories will be announced in the coming days. Each category will feature five nominees, selected by the forum’s athlete selection committee.

The winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Special Award, Para Athlete Honor, and Asian Sports Journalist Award will be revealed during the award ceremony. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will open after the nominees are announced.

Winners in the Male Player, Female Player, Youth Player, Coach, and People’s Choice categories will each receive a Pulsar motorcycle, while recipients of the remaining honors will receive Rs. 100,000 each.

To oversee the event, NSJF has formed a main organizing committee chaired by President Niranjan Adhikari, along with several supporting subcommittees.

At last year’s awards, cricketer Dipendra Singh Airee won Male Player of the Year, karate athlete Erika Gurung claimed Female Player of the Year, cricketer Pooja Mahato received the Youth Player of the Year award, and Para Taekwondo coach Kabiraj Negi Lama was named Coach of the Year. Volleyball player Himal Sunari won the People’s Choice Award through public voting.

The Special Award went to Taekwondo athlete Tulsi Kumar Gurung, Prabha Angdembe received the Para Athlete Honor, Bangladeshi sports journalist Rana Hasan was presented with the Asian Sports Journalist Award, and Khadga Ranabhat received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
