Kathmandu — Bagmati Province’s Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development, Binu Rayamajhi Poudel, resigned from her post on Tuesday in line with Article 169(2)(a) of Nepal’s Constitution.
Following the resignation, Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya reorganized the provincial Cabinet and reassigned ministerial portfolios under Article 168(9) of the Constitution.
Under the reshuffle, Provincial Assembly member Shailendraman Bajracharya of the Hamro Nepali Party has been appointed Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development. His appointment has been recommended to the Province Chief for approval.
As part of the new portfolio allocation, Chief Minister Baniya will continue to oversee the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.
The revised Cabinet assignments are as follows:
Shivaraj Adhikari – Minister for Internal Affairs, Law and Cooperatives
Urmila Nepal – Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Forests and Environment
Shailendraman Bajracharya – Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development
Kanchan Chandra Bade – Minister for Health and Social Development
Prabhat Tamang – Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning
Suresh Shrestha – Minister for Industry, Tourism, Labour and Transport
Krishna Kumar Tamang – Minister for Drinking Water, Energy and Irrigation
Chief Minister Baniya said the Cabinet reshuffle and redistribution of responsibilities were aimed at making the provincial government more effective, better coordinated and results-oriented.
