Kathmandu – The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) has accelerated preparations for the 23rd NSJF Pulsar Sports Award 2082, scheduled to be held on Bhadra 18. As part of the preparations, the forum has announced the nominees for the People’s Choice Award and signed an agreement with Khalti by IME as the official voting partner.
The NSJF Pulsar Sports Award is regarded as one of Nepal’s most prestigious sporting events, honoring athletes, coaches and sports personalities who have made significant contributions to Nepali sports. Winners are primarily selected based on performances and achievements throughout the previous year.
This year, awards will be presented in nine categories: Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, People’s Choice Award, Para Athlete Honor, Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and Asian Sports Journalist Award.
The five nominees for the People’s Choice Award 2082 are:
- Meena Sunar – Volleyball
An emerging women’s volleyball player and powerful spiker, Sunar has represented Nepal in major CAVA competitions and has also played a key role for Nepal Police Club and Everest Volleyball Club. - Puja Rana – Football
Rana impressed during the Asian Cup qualifiers in Uzbekistan and has also delivered strong performances in professional leagues abroad, representing clubs in Bhutan and Bangladesh. - Sanumaya Thing – Karate
Thing has competed at the World Karate Championship and Asian Karate Championship, while also winning medals at the South Asian Karate Championship and international kata and kumite events. - Sher Malla – Cricket
Malla made an impressive ICC T20 World Cup debut by taking a wicket with his first delivery. He has also produced strong performances in international qualifiers and has been an important member of championship-winning teams in the Nepal Premier League. - Rabindra Dhat – Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
Known as the “Tiger of Bajhang,” Dhat is one of Nepal’s rising MMA fighters. He became the Matrix Fight Night 17 Bantamweight Champion last year and is ranked among fighters in the Asia-Pacific region.
The People’s Choice winner will be decided through public voting. NSJF said the nominations were announced around two weeks before the ceremony to give the nominated athletes wider recognition and greater public exposure.
