Kathmandu – Severe flooding in the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli river corridor has caused widespread damage to transport infrastructure in Rasuwa and nearby areas, affecting around 40 kilometres of roads and 19 bridges.
According to preliminary assessments by the Department of Roads, several sections of the Galchhi–Mailung–Rasuwagadhi road have been washed away or badly damaged, while numerous bridges along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers have either been swept away or rendered unsafe.
The destruction has severely disrupted vehicular movement in the affected areas, cutting off important road connections and making access difficult for local residents, rescue teams and relief operations.
Authorities have deployed heavy equipment to clear debris, remove landslide material and restore damaged road sections. Technical teams are also being mobilised to assess the condition of affected bridges and begin emergency restoration work.
Officials said the full scale of the damage is still being evaluated, and the figures could rise as assessments continue in areas that remain difficult to access.
