Kathmandu – A total of 403 tourists have been reported missing following the devastating floods in Rasuwa district, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
Of the total, 341 are foreign tourists and 62 are Nepali tourists. The missing include 203 men and 200 women, the board said.
Indian nationals account for the largest number of missing foreign tourists, with 133 reported missing. They are followed by 47 Americans, 34 Australians, 33 Britons, 24 Canadians, 19 Malaysians, seven Ukrainians and six South Africans.
Six Singaporean tourists have also been reported missing, along with five each from New Zealand and Japan. The list includes four German nationals, three French nationals and two Spanish nationals.
The figures were released as search and rescue operations continued in areas affected by the flash floods in Rasuwa.
Authorities and security agencies have been carrying out rescue and relief operations in the disaster-hit areas, while efforts are underway to locate those reported missing.
The floods have caused significant damage to infrastructure and disrupted movement in the northern border district, with further details on casualties and damage expected as rescue teams gain access to affected areas.
