Nuwakot — More than 20 bodies were reportedly found inside a buried house in Betrawati, Nuwakot, after devastating floods swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors, according to local authorities and media reports.
Nepal Police Superintendent Bipin Regmi said the exact number of bodies had not yet been confirmed because of continuing rain and darkness. He said multiple bodies were found in a single room of the buried house.
Mangal Tamang, a ward member of Bidur Municipality-10, said 22 bodies had been seen at the site. He said rescuers had recovered five or six bodies from the house, while others remained buried and were difficult to identify. Search and recovery operations were expected to resume Tuesday morning.
The discovery adds to the mounting death toll from the catastrophic flooding, which has left communities along the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli corridor devastated and many families searching for missing relatives.
Authorities are continuing efforts to recover and identify the victims.
