Kathmandu – Following severe flooding of the Bhotekoshi River on Thursday, August 26, 2026, which heavily damaged telecommunications infrastructure in the Rasuwa district, Dish Media Network Limited (DishHome) has stepped in to restore vital connectivity. With official approval from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), DishHome has partnered with Eutelsat to deploy free OneWeb satellite internet services to the hardest-hit areas, effective September 5, 2026.
Recognizing that communication is a critical lifeline during natural disasters, this joint initiative prioritizes restoring connectivity where emergency operations depend on it most. Eutelsat’s OneWeb high-speed satellite internet is currently being provided to essential government offices, security forces, rescue camps, and critical coordination hubs across the affected zones.
By deploying advanced low-Earth orbit connectivity through this Eutelsat partnership, and with the NTA’s regulatory support, this alternative satellite solution effectively bridges the gap left by damaged ground infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted information exchange. It enables real-time coordination and seamless data flow among government agencies, security forces, local authorities, and humanitarian stakeholders actively engaged in search, rescue, and relief operations.
DishHome will continue to work closely with government bodies and local stakeholders to monitor the situation. The company has pledged to expand satellite access based on urgency and priority until standard telecom and internet infrastructures are fully repaired and restored.
