Kathmandu – Bikash Hydropower Company Limited has proposed distributing 10 percent bonus shares to its shareholders from the profit of the fiscal year 2082/83. The company’s Board of Directors meeting decided to propose the bonus share distribution along with a 0.5263 percent cash dividend for tax purposes related to the bonus shares.
According to the company, the proposed bonus shares will be distributed based on the company’s existing paid-up capital. The proposal includes 9,09,101.3 units of bonus shares, equivalent to 10 percent of the current paid-up capital of NPR 90.91 million, while a cash dividend of 0.5263 percent has been proposed for tax purposes.
Bikash Hydropower Chairman Khagendra Neupane said that the hydropower sector plays an important role in Nepal’s economic development and highlighted the need for continued investment in energy production. He stated that effective use of Nepal’s water resources can contribute to employment generation, industrial growth, infrastructure development and a stronger investment environment.
The company said the proposed dividend reflects its recent financial performance, project development efforts and management initiatives. It added that while hydropower projects require long-term planning and investment, creating a foundation for shareholder returns is an important milestone.
Bikash Hydropower said it is also moving forward with additional hydropower projects, including Budhi Gandaki Hydropower and Shangrila Hydropower projects, under its leadership team. The company has prioritised identifying new opportunities in the energy sector, managing financial resources, controlling costs and ensuring timely project completion.
The proposed bonus shares and cash dividend will be distributed only after receiving approval from the relevant regulatory authorities and approval from the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). Until then, the decision made by the Board of Directors remains a proposal.
The company said the increase in paid-up capital after the bonus share distribution will support future business activities and project expansion. Bikash Hydropower aims to strengthen its role in Nepal’s growing hydropower sector through continued investment, project development and sustainable energy production.
