Kathmandu – The highly anticipated Hollywood film ‘Tenzing,’ produced by Apple, has received a special screening in Nepal ahead of its worldwide release. The special show was organized by the British Embassy in Kathmandu on Monday evening.

The screening was held at the QFX multiplex at Civil Mall and was attended by members of the House of Representatives, diplomats from the UK, US and European countries, celebrities, filmmakers, mountaineering figures, and members of the film’s production team.
Actress Manisha Koirala and ‘Tenzing’ actress Thinley Lhamo were also present at the event.
Director Jennifer Peedom and representatives of New Zealand-based production company Sea Films also attended the screening. According to the British Embassy, proceeds collected from the event will be donated to the government’s Disaster Relief Fund for flood victims.

The two-hour film received a positive response during the special screening. It was filmed at several locations in Nepal, including the Everest region, Patan, Bandipur and Mustang. Nepali crew members involved in the production, including location manager and cinematographer Bishnu Kalpit, also attended the event.
The film tells the story of the historic 1953 first ascent of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. It follows the life journey of Tenzing Norgay, portrayed by Genden Phuntsok, and explores how he joined the British mountaineering expedition and played a key role in the historic climb.
Phuntsok has portrayed Tenzing, while Thinley Lhamo plays his wife. Tom Hiddleston portrays Edmund Hillary, while Willem Dafoe plays the leader of the mountaineering team.
The film also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last week. It is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in the UK and US on October 9, followed by its release on Apple TV on October 16.
