Kathmandu -Himalaya Airlines (IATA: H9) has resumed regular direct flights between Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and Shanghai Pudong International Airport from September 28.
Flight H9 781 departed Kathmandu at 7:11 pm on September 28 and landed in Shanghai at 2:36 am on September 29, Chinese time. The return flight departed Shanghai at 4:36 am and arrived in Kathmandu at 8:13 am on the same day.
The airline will initially operate two flights per week on the route. Flights from Kathmandu to Shanghai will operate every Monday and Friday, while return flights will operate every Tuesday and Saturday. The airline said it may increase the frequency based on passenger demand and load factors.
With the resumption of the service, Himalaya Airlines has become the only airline operating regular direct flights on the Kathmandu–Shanghai–Kathmandu route.
The service is expected to improve air connectivity between Nepal and China, while supporting tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges. The airline also expects the route to contribute to the growth of Nepal’s tourism and hospitality sectors, particularly during the upcoming peak tourist season.
Himalaya Airlines Vice President Vijay Shrestha said the airline remains committed to strengthening trade, tourism and people-to-people connections between Nepal and China. He added that the resumed service would further promote tourism and business between the two countries while maintaining high standards of safety and service.
