Kathmandu – The stock market index NEPSE fell 6.38 points on Wednesday and closed at 2,572.
Turnover improved, rising to Rs 3.74 billion from Rs 3.13 billion the previous day. Prices rose for 99 companies and fell for 167, while 13 were unchanged.
All sector indices except banking declined. Banking rose 0.08 percent, while trading fell the most, by 1.38 percent.
Development banks fell 0.07 percent, finance companies 0.09 percent, hotels and tourism 0.06 percent, hydropower 0.03 percent, investment 0.55 percent, life insurance 0.29 percent, manufacturing and processing 0.73 percent, microfinance 0.39 percent, non-life insurance 0.60 percent and others 0.36 percent.
Among the gainers, Ghalemdi Hydropower rose 5.89 percent, Ingwa Hydropower 4.85 percent, Sanima Middle Tamor 3.66 percent and Nepal Insurance 2.99 percent. Among the losers, Suryakunda Hydro Electric fell 3.64 percent, Yambling Hydropower 3.42 percent and Upper Mailung Khola 3.37 percent.
The most actively traded companies today, in order, were Ghalemdi Hydropower, Reliance Spinning Mills, Peoples Hydropower, Liberty Energy, Sanima Middle Tamor, Himalayan Power Partner, Laxmi Sunrise Bank and Himalayan Distillery.
