Kathmandu: The Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) has officially introduced the collective trademark ‘Ma Udhyami’ to promote, brand and market products made by women entrepreneurs across the country.
The initiative was formally launched at an exhibition held at Heritage Garden in Lalitpur on Thursday, featuring around 100 stalls showcasing products from more than 100 women entrepreneurs. The exhibition included handicrafts, Dhaka textiles, carpets, handmade paper products, organic foods, agricultural products, jewellery and decorative items.
FWEAN President Darshana Shrestha said the trademark, based on the theme “My Identity, My Enterprise,” aims to establish a common identity for women-led businesses and strengthen their presence in domestic and international markets.
She clarified that the trademark would not be limited to federation members, allowing eligible women entrepreneurs nationwide to apply for its use. However, applicants must meet requirements related to business registration, tax compliance and product quality.
The federation expects the initiative to improve product recognition, branding, packaging, marketing and networking opportunities while encouraging the use of local skills and resources.
The ‘Ma Udhyami’ trademark is also expected to support market expansion, strengthen business collaboration and help identify the contribution of women entrepreneurs to Nepal’s economy.
