Kathmandu — The Kalanki underpass is receiving a fresh look ahead of Dashain, with the Department of Roads carrying out cleaning and repainting work as part of preparations for the festive season.
The underpass, located along the Koteshwor–Kalanki section of the Ring Road, is being painted in yellow and white. The cleaning and repainting work had reached its final stage by October 15, according to reports on the ongoing work.
The work is part of a wider effort by the Department of Roads to clean major road sections and improve lane markings across Kathmandu Valley before Dashain, when vehicle and passenger movement increases significantly.
The Koteshwor–Kalanki section was constructed with Chinese government assistance and includes the Kalanki underpass, which has helped improve traffic movement through the busy junction since its operation.
The ongoing repainting is giving the busy underpass a cleaner and more refreshed appearance as Kathmandu prepares for increased traffic during the Dashain travel period.
