Kathmandu — The Himalayan range was clearly visible from several parts of the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday, as relatively clear skies offered residents a striking view of the snow-covered mountains.
The improved visibility comes during Nepal’s post-monsoon transition, a period when clearer weather often provides better views of the mountains from the Valley. Nepal’s monsoon season officially withdrew on October 14 this year.
The clearer skies have also marked a gradual seasonal change in Kathmandu, with cooler mornings and evenings becoming more noticeable as the Valley moves toward the colder months.
Mountain visibility, however, depends heavily on weather conditions, cloud cover, humidity and atmospheric pollution. Clear conditions can produce sharp Himalayan views, while haze or clouds can quickly obscure the peaks.
The appearance of the Himalayan range from Kathmandu provides a familiar seasonal reminder of the transition from the post-monsoon period toward winter, while offering residents and visitors clearer views of the mountains surrounding the Valley.
