Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Skill Fair 2081 begins
On the occasion of International Labour Day, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) organized the ‘Seep Mela 2081 (Skill Fair)’ at Tundikhel, Kathmandu.
A month-long skill fair aims to provide free skill training related to 10 areas and 29 different occupations.
KMC Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol inaugurated the fair on Wednesday. She said “In the past, there has been much training, but there has always been a lack of skill-involved manpower where needed. After observing this, we realized that training alone does not bring results when given or taken. We are improving this practice from the past by integrating training with ’employment’, ‘self-employment’, and ‘on the job training'”.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol highlighted that the skill fair will be integrated with employment and production, making it practical. According to KMC, its target is to provide training to 2081 individuals.
Approximately 5,500 people participated in the inauguration ceremony, according to Bimala Koirala, Chief of KMC’s Social Development. The fair is being organized from May 1 to June 7 to provide training and employment to the city’s residents.
Chief Administrative Officer of the Metropolitan City, Pradeep Pariyar, said, “We keep constant surveillance of individuals who have been given training, where they are, what they are doing. We incorporate the achievements gained professionally into the new training programs of the Metropolitan City.”
