Happy students: Free rides bring smiles, excitement for school
Grahmin Yatayat Dhading Pvt. Ltd. has initiated free transportation services for students. From Baisakh 20, the transportation company started providing free service to students studying in the Shree Kiranchok Katunje Secondary School of Dhading Gajuri Rural Municipality.
According to the transport entrepreneur Resham Bahadur Basnet, this service started due to difficulties faced by students in commuting to school. As per him, students will be able to avail this service on the Kiranchok-Adamghat route.
It takes about one and a half to two hours for students to reach school. Currently, the bus provides service to 58 students.
Previously, a place named ‘Dobhan Khadka’ students also received free transportation services four years ago, as mentioned by Basnet. Approximately 42 students on that route used the transportation.
Rural transportation doesn’t just offer free services; it also provides incentives for students who board the bus. Basnet stated that the first student to board receives Rs. 1500, the second receives Rs. 1000, and the third receives Rs. 500 rupees.
The school’s principal, Deependra Bhandari, expressed students’ happiness after implementing free transportation services. He mentioned that now students don’t miss their classes. “Previously, students used to skip school if it took more than three hours to return home. Now they study until 4 PM,” he said.
