Polio vaccination campaign begins in Kathmandu Valley
Kathmandu – The polio vaccination campaign has commenced today in the Kathmandu Valley, targeting children under the age of five. This campaign will run until July 27th (Saturday) and will cover the districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur.
Vaccination Schedule:
- Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV): Administered three times at 6 weeks, 10 weeks, and 14 weeks of age.
- Injected Polio Vaccine (IPV): Administered twice at 14 weeks and 9 months of age.
Polio Risk and Prevention:
Polio can affect individuals of any age, but children under five have a higher risk. To protect children from this disease, it is crucial to follow the national immunization schedule and ensure they receive the full doses of polio vaccines.
During this special vaccination campaign, children under five must receive additional doses of the polio vaccine to enhance their immunity and safeguard their health.
