Photographer Association of Gandaki announces photo contest for Founding Day and World Photography Day
Kathmandu: The Photographer Association of Gandaki has announced a photo contest to celebrate its founding day and the 185th World Photography Day. The competition is designed to honor photographers, boost their skills, and enhance their enthusiasm.
Tulsi Ram Subedi, the association’s secretary, announced that the contest will feature six categories: Best Photo Award, Bride and Groom Headshot, Best Coloring and Retouching, Best Moment Capturing, Best Couple Posing, and Best Culture. The competition will conclude on September 5, 2024, with the Best Wedding Photo Award offering a cash prize of NPR 15,555, a trophy, and a certificate. Winners in other categories will receive trophies and certificates.
The Mirage National Wedding Photo Contest is an ongoing event throughout the year, with monthly winners receiving certificates. Additionally, a fund of NPR 2 lakh has been established for the competition, according to Jeevan Dhungana, the association’s treasurer.
The association has also introduced a Nature & Landscape photo contest to highlight the natural beauty of Gandaki Province and promote internal tourism. Photos must be taken within Gandaki Province, and participants from across the country are eligible. The top photo in this category will win NPR 10,000, a trophy, and a certificate. The top five photos will receive trophies and certificates.
The competition was officially launched by Durga Prasad Paudel, the association’s president, with special guests including senior photographer Bishwaratna Shakya and representatives from the Nepal Journalists Association Gandaki.
Submission Details:
For Nature & Landscape Contest:
- Photos must be taken within Gandaki Province.
- Open to all Nepalese citizens.
- Photos related to nature and beautiful scenery.
- Submissions via the Google Form: Link to Form
- Participants can submit up to 3 photos.
- Photos should be larger than 1 MB.
- Basic cropping and color correction are allowed. No logos or watermarks.
For Mirage National Wedding Photo Contest:
- Categories include Best Photo Award, Bride and Groom Headshot, Best Coloring and Retouching, Best Moment Capturing, Best Couple Posing, and Best Culture.
- Contest starts on July 31, 2024.
- Deadline for submissions is September 5, 2024, by midnight.
- Results and awards will be announced on September 10, 2024.
