Campaign ‘Connecting Karnali’ happening in Kathmandu, featuring Dolpa district
A new initiative aimed at bridging the gap between the federal capital and the remote Karnali province has been launched in New Baneshwar. The ‘Connecting Karnali’ campaign will utilize words, visuals, images, and products to establish a stronger connection between the two regions.
As part of the campaign, the spotlight will be on Dolpa district from August 10 to 12. Through a captivating display of photographs and videos, the campaign seeks to showcase the district’s unique identity, culture, and natural beauty.
The campaign, led by the Managhari Foundation, will run for 10 months, according to Bharatbandhu Thapa, the campaign’s organizer and visionary. Each month, the campaign will spotlight one of Karnali’s 10 districts through a series of exhibitions and events.
The exhibition will showcase 30 photos and 5 videos highlighting Dolpa’s unique culture, heritage, and natural beauty. Visitors can also view products from Karnali, including Marsi rice, beans, millet flour, buckwheat flour, clothing, and items produced by the Raute community.
The videos featured in the exhibition will explore various aspects of Dolpa, including its culture, heritage, natural environment, and the region’s famous yarsagumba.
The campaign initially began with an exhibition in Dailekh district, known for its rich Khas art, culture, and heritage. The “Connecting Karnali” campaign will continue to highlight the remaining districts of Karnali in the coming months.
