Tihar day 2: Kukur Tihar- Celebrating dogs
The second day of Tihar, known as Kukur Tihar, is dedicated to celebrating dogs, and acknowledging their loyalty and companionship. Families honor their canine friends by adorning them with garlands and applying tika (a mixture of color and rice) on their foreheads. Special treats are offered, and many people take the time to reflect on the bond they share with their pets.
In addition to honoring household dogs, the day also includes paying respect to stray dogs, as they are considered protectors of the household. This heartfelt celebration emphasizes the deep connection between humans and animals, highlighting the love and loyalty that dogs bring to our lives.
