Press conference announces 18th Chitwan Elephant and Tourism Festival
The Chitwan Elephant and Tourism Festival, the 18th edition, is set to take place from December 26th to 30th, 2024, in Sauraha, Chitwan. Organized by the Regional Hotel Association of Nepal, Chitwan, co-organized by United Elephant Ride Operation Cooperative Limited and Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal, this festival aims to promote Chitwan, a renowned tourist destination and the biodiversity and wildlife tourism capital of Nepal.
Initially started in 2055 B.S., the festival was halted for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers are thrilled to resume the festival, which has significantly contributed to the development of Chitwan’s tourism.
The festival has been successful in attracting 25-30% more tourists annually and has played a crucial role in promoting Chitwan as a global tourist destination. The various activities during the festival not only promote tourism but also highlight the importance of elephants.
The festival features 80 elephants, both privately owned and government-owned, participating in various activities. The organizers are also committed to promoting digital technology and discouraging the use of plastic materials. The festival also aims to promote the diverse cultures and traditions of Chitwan.
