AWON Bazaar 2024: A charitable marketplace at Soaltee Hotel this Saturday, December 7
The AWON Bazaar, organized by Active Women of Nepal (AWON), will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Soaltee Hotel, Kathmandu. This iconic event, a tradition spanning four decades, will be inaugurated at 11:00 AM by U.S. Ambassador Dean R. Thompson. Diplomats and ambassadors from various countries in Nepal are also expected to participate.
The bazaar will feature over 100 stalls, prioritizing locally made products crafted by influential individuals based on their interests. The stalls will showcase offerings from startups, organic products, local crafts, fashion wear, handicrafts, and unique Christmas decorations. Special attractions are planned for children, including engaging games and activities.
Funds raised from the AWON Bazaar will be allocated to AWON’s charitable initiatives. Established 75 years ago by women and expatriates affiliated with the U.S. Embassy, AWON is one of Nepal’s oldest philanthropic organizations. It has grown into a collaborative platform for expatriates and Nepali women, actively supporting causes such as earthquake and COVID-19 relief, disaster assistance, wheelchair distribution, medical aid, and scholarships.
The current Honorary President of AWON is Mrs. Jane Krill Thompson, wife of U.S. Ambassador Dean R. Thompson. Highlighting the significance of the event, Baba Sarkar Shrestha, AWON President said:
“The AWON Bazaar is not just about entertainment; it’s an opportunity to exchange philanthropic values. Every year, we bring together helping hands and prepare to welcome the new year with renewed commitments to community support.”
The AWON Bazaar 2024 is sponsored by organizations such as Travel Magazine, Turkish Airlines, Nepal Airlines, Yeti Airlines, IBB Baby Diaper, CAF Kitchen Appliances, Arun Chaudhary Foundation, Global IME Bank, Sumeru Hospital, Tranquility Spa, Rupiz International School, and Prime Bank Limited. Soaltee Hotel serves as the venue partner.
