Sagar Dhakal elected President of Stock Brokers Association of Nepal
Sagar Dhakal has been elected as the President of the Stock Brokers Association of Nepal (SBAN). The election, held on Friday, saw a close contest between Dhakal and Rajkumar Timalsina.
Of the 88 total votes cast, Dhakal secured 45, while Timalsina received 43. Alongside Dhakal, Nitesh Kumar Agrawal was elected Vice President, Bhaktiram Ghimire as General Secretary, Madan Paudel as Treasurer, and Binaya Regmi as Secretary. The elected members include Jayant Srivastava, Bishal Kumar Agrawal, Jelina Kandel, and Priyanshu Agrawal.
This election marks a significant milestone in the history of Nepal’s stock market. A historic merger between the Stock Brokers Association of Nepal (representing older brokers) and the Securities Brokers Association of Nepal (representing new brokers) was signed on Kartik 28. The subsequent 30th Annual General Meeting, held on Mangsir 20, led to the election of the new executive committee.
Dhakal, who previously held the position of President of the Securities Brokers Association, now leads the unified body. He succeeds Dharmaraj Sapkota, the former President of SBAN.
The merger is expected to strengthen collaboration among brokers and streamline the operations of Nepal’s stock trading sector.
