Bagmati River Festival celebrates ‘Samrakshan Padyatra’ with preservation march
The Bagmati River Festival, a significant event celebrating its 24th year, is set to highlight the importance of preserving Nepal’s rich cultural heritage with a grand “Samrakshan Padyatra” (Heritage Conservation March) on August 17, 2024. The event aims to honor the historical and cultural significance of the Bagmati River and raise awareness about its conservation.
The march will begin at 7:00 AM from Sankhamul, passing through Jwagal, Dharmathali, Teku Dovan, Panchali Bhairab, Tripureshwor Mahadev, Ichhumati Dovan, Mokshya Dham, Kalmochan Ghat, Rudreshwor Mahadev and will conclude at Rudramati Dovan.
Prominent figures who have contributed to the river’s conservation efforts will be remembered, including Tulsi Mehar Shrestha, Siddhi Gopal Baidya, Bhagwan Das Manandhar, Hutaram Baidya, Satya Mohan Joshi, and Ambica Shrestha. The festival is a tribute to these inspiring personalities whose work has been instrumental in preserving the Bagmati River.
