Breaking: Helicopter crash in Khotang, no casualties
A helicopter crashed at Balabesi in Khartamcha, Ward No. 2 of Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality in Khotang district, according to local officials.
The helicopter, which had flown from Kathmandu carrying six passengers, reportedly met with the accident while attempting to land.
Earlier, Chief District Officer Rekha Kandel had said the helicopter was heading to the area carrying a dead body. However, Ward Chairperson Milan Kumar Rai later clarified that no dead body was on board the aircraft.
CDO Kandel said information received so far indicates that there were no human casualties in the incident.
According to Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality Chairperson Samir Rai, the helicopter crashed during the landing process. He said the aircraft was initially attempting to land on the edge of a terraced field. When efforts were made to lift it and move it toward the middle of the field, the accident occurred.
Further details of the incident are yet to emerge.
