Kathmandu – Nepal is preparing to host its first BSides Kathmandu 2026 cybersecurity conference on November 21, bringing together ethical hackers, security researchers, technology professionals and students for a day of learning and collaboration.
The event is scheduled to take place at Lemon Tree Premier in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, from 10 am to 6 pm. Organizers expect more than 300 participants, creating a platform for Nepal’s cybersecurity community to exchange ideas.
Unlike commercial technology conferences, BSides Kathmandu is a community-led, non-profit event focused on sharing knowledge rather than promoting products. Funds collected through sponsorships and ticket sales will support the conference and its operations.
Participants can attend technical presentations, hands-on security workshops, hardware hacking activities, capture-the-flag competitions and open-source project showcases. These activities offer opportunities to explore cybersecurity challenges and learn from experienced professionals.
Ashish Dhone, Offensive Security Lead at Mindpool Technologies, is among the featured speakers. His security research has helped identify publicly documented vulnerabilities involving products such as Google Chrome and Adobe ColdFusion.
Early-bird tickets are available until November 4, priced at Rs. 1,900 for students, Rs. 2,400 for general admission and Rs. 5,000 for the Corporate Plus After Party pass. Regular ticket prices begin on November 5, followed by late-bird rates from November 16.
The BSides movement began in Las Vegas, United States, in 2009, when cybersecurity researchers created an independent space to share work that could not fit into larger conferences. It has since grown into a global network of locally organized events.
As Nepal becomes increasingly connected through digital services, opportunities for cybersecurity education and research are growing in importance. BSides Kathmandu hopes to strengthen connections between students, professionals and researchers.
