Buddha Air nears DGCA approval for Kathmandu-Pakyong route
Nepal’s Buddha Air is set to start flights between Kathmandu and Pakyong soon. A team from the airline, including Jeevan Basnet, Operational Head and Uday Krishna Shrestha, Administrative Head, visited Pakyong Airport for a feasibility study. They received a presentation from Pakyong Air Traffic Control and toured the airport with Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Director.
Buddha Air is seeking permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and has completed 80% of the required paperwork. The airline plans to operate two daily flights: one direct from Kathmandu to Pakyong and another via Guwahati. The direct flight will take about an hour, and fares are expected to be Rs. 6,000-7,000, with a request to lower them to Rs. 5,000-6,000.
The airline is confident in passenger demand and hopes to receive DGCA approval within a month.
